We’re a family of explorers passionate about sharing our love for travel and Africa, the continent we call home. Arriving in Egypt in 1979, Gary Strand spent five years guiding small groups through Africa’s most remote corners before settling in Tanzania and founding Wildlife Explorer together with his parents and late wife Jill in 1984. 

Today, Gary and Jo, continue to run the company together with daughter Hannah and son Hunter, who both grew up on the continent and have a deep connection with its landscapes, wildlife and people.
